Senior Attorney Hailey Hye-In Jin participated in the 4th Jeonbuk-Saemangeum Innovation Symposium as a panelist in a discussion on "Barriers to Entry in the HEMP Industry and Potential Solutions." She highlighted that global standards, including those in the U.S., Europe, and China, allow the cultivation and processing of HEMP with a THC content of 0.3% or lower. Given the challenges in amending the Narcotics Control Act or enacting the Hemp Industry Promotion Act at the national level, she suggested that Korea could adopt regulatory exemptions in regions such as Andong, Gyeongbuk, and Saemangeum, similar to how China permits HEMP cultivation and processing only in Yunnan and Heilongjiang provinces.
