Dentons Lee ranked 10th in the overall service category in the 2022 Korea Best Law Firms & Lawyers survey jointly conducted by Hankyung Business and the Korean In-house Counsel Association.

Dentons Lee entered the list of best law firms for the first time since the survey was conducted, and such an achievement holds significant meaning that Dentons Lee is recognized more than ever for its expertise and competence by industry insiders through a combination in 2020 with Dentons, a world-renowned law firm.

In the survey, Hankyung Business evaluated the entire law firms by dividing law firm services into six areas including: reasonableness of litigation costs, courtesy of lawyers in charge, professionalism of lawyers in charge, initiative and sense of responsibility of lawyers in charge on their duties engaged, sincerity of paralegals and promptness of work.

Dentons Lee entered the top 10 in the ranking by getting excellent scores in the “professionalism of lawyers” sector and the “initiative and sense of responsibility of lawyers in charge on their duties engaged” sector.

Meanwhile, in the “2022 Best Lawyers in Korea” survey, Attorney Yong-Moon Kim of Dentons Lee was selected as the best lawyer in the corporate advice category.

Attorney Yong-Moon Kim successfully carried out dispute cases on issues with high importance and impact in the field of labor laws, based on organic cooperation with experts from the Dentons Lee labor group.

Among others, Mr. Kim successfully handled the cases filed before major labor commissions that questioned whether original contractors can be defined as employers under Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act and whether unfair labor practice is established, as well as the case of infringement of trade secrets and provisional injunction to prevent the change of employment where a key personnel moved over a competitor of the client. In addition, Mr. Kim has smoothly handled numerous dispute cases on various important issues such as violation of the Temporary Agency Workers Act, provisional disposition for prohibition of obstruction of business in case of dispute, effect of amendment in rules of employment, effect of incumbent conditions for bonuses, labor union activities of delivery drivers for online shopping malls, whether weather casters can be defined as employees, journalists' duty of fair reporting, deferred incentives for people who retired in their mid-career, allowances for workers dispatched overseas, dismissal of perpetrators of workplace bullying, labor criminal liability, etc.

Also, Attorney Yong-Moon Kim has provided optimal legal advice on a regular basis as to various labor-related issues such as individual labor relations, collective labor relations, industrial safety, etc. and has effectively rendered legal advice to many major projects to help clients better respond to union establishment and collective bargaining, build a performance-oriented organization such as PIP, diagnose and improve subcontracting relationships (establishment of subsidiaries included), and to improve industrial safety/severe disaster prevention systems.

Meanwhile, “Korea's Best Law Firms & Lawyers” is an annual survey conducted by Hankyung Business since 2010. It is evaluated as a credible indicator in that in-house lawyers and legal teams of top 200 domestic companies who practically work with law firms directly participate in the survey. This year, about 2,500 industry insiders responded in the survey.
